Week 25 - Small and Simple things...

Hey everyone,
This week has been great. Miracles are happening in Falls Church. I
love it. That family that came to church last week came again and they
like it! It is the best. It is incredible what the Lord will do when
you are willing to open your mouth. He will lead you to the people who
need to hear what you have to say! The family that invited them
invited another family to church. They are doing so much good. And it
is all because the Lord knows that when the time comes they will open
their mouths. So he puts people in their path who will listen. And then
the miracles happen. All because of a simple invitation. It says in
the scriptures that by small and simple things great things are come
to past. And that is something that I am realizing. That when we want
to do something great, it starts with something small. It isn't always
easy. Just because it is small it will still stretch you. But looking
back it will be like, "that wasn't bad. That was pretty easy!" So
remember something small, whether it is an invitation, or helping
someone with their groceries. Whatever it is. It will help them and
you can be a miracle in their life. So always be willing to share what
you have.
I have a good feeling about this family that came to church. If
they like our church service then I am sure they will love the rest. I
am just so happy. I love the ward here. Just walking up the halls.
They are the best. They always say hi. Ask how my companion's ankle is
doing. Ask us if we need anything. Then they usually say they are
planning on feeding us. And we usually end up laughing about
something. Then we move on and it is like they are in a line. Just one
after the other. And then the little kids always love to say hi to us.
It is like we are church celebrities. Elder Skousen and I are doing
great. Crutching around and trying to teach people.
It snowed again today. It is pretty cold here in Virginia. Like
15-25. With wind. So it is like -15 to -25. Well at least that's what
it feels like. But hey I am grateful that Elder Skousen took one for
the team and we have a car now. Small and simple things again. Small
break in his bone. And now we get a car. Next winter I might have to
push my companion in the snow so we can get a car again. This past
week has been great. I hope you are all doing well and have a great
week this week!

Week 24 - Rely on the Lord

Hey everyone.
This has been a good week. Elder Skousen got his cast on. And he
is doing great. He has this little scooter thing. He love scootin'
around on it. I am pretty sure he thinks it is a jeep. He is talking
about doing an axle swap and maybe throwing on some bigger tires.
Haha. He cracks me up! He keeps me laughing.
Something I have learned this week would probably be that desire
is key. I have spent a lot of time in the apartment over the last
couple weeks with the snow storm and with the broken ankle. But we
wanted to get out and work. And everything worked out. We were still
able to meet with everyone this week. And we were able to get some
pretty good numbers. And it was awesome. I think it was because we had
to rely on the Lord. When you aren't able to do much you need him to
make up the rest. But when we are healthy, we rely on ourselves too
much. But when we are going through a trial we know we can't make it. So
we say, "Heavenly Father, I am going to do my best. But hey. I know I
can't make it. I need you help." And he happily steps in so we can make
it together. But when we are doing well. We just do our best and hope
it all works out.
This has been a cool couple of week. And I have learned a lot.
I hope you are all doing well. I am. I am having tons of fun. And
learning lots. Virginia is the best. Hope you all have a good week.

Week 23 - Foot Surgery for Elder Skousen - Warning Graphic Pictures Ahead~!!!

Hey everyone,
Man a lot has changed since I wrote you last. Well to start out
my companion, Elder Skousen broke his ankle. And had surgery. Kinda a
crazy story. But hey we are making the best of it! We are pretty lucky.
We actually have a foot and ankle specialist in our ward! That was
pretty neat. Because he opened his office so that we could go get it
checked out after hours and everything. And then he was actually able
to do the surgery. So that was a little miracle in itself. The surgery
went well. And he is doing good. I don't think I would be happy if I
had to lay In bed all day. But hey he is doing well.

I learned something pretty cool this week. We went to dinner at
a members house. We had a quick message prepared. But when it came
time to share the message their home teacher was there too. And he
shared one. And it was really good. He shared his conversion story.
And it was really cool. And then he talked about 3 things. They were
focus, faith, and patience. He talked about when Peter walked out to
Jesus. And he started to sink when he lost focus on the Savior. And
that really stuck out to me. If we focus on the Savior, we don't have
to worry about the waves around us. And I really like that. And so if
we focus on the Savior, the next step is faith. Believe that he will
come through for us. When we pray we focus on Him. And then we get up
and start worrying again. And that's because we need to have the faith
the he will come through and we don't need to worry. And then the last
step is patience. We need to wait and he will come through. It just
makes sense to me. I love where I am. I love the people and my companion.
The people I work around. And even the snow sometimes.

I hope something I wrote today can help you out. But I know we don't
need to worry. We have the Lord in our corner. And as long as we do what
he tell us we will win. And we don't have anything to worry about.
Love you guys. Hope you have a good week!
